As portraits, these are idiosyncratic. Some of them, as in "Tea Ceremony," are intended as depictions of certain people.
Others, it's a reach to catagorize as portaits, but I'm doing it because the feeling of the person(s), the character(s), whether they actually exist or not, is fundamental to the painting. I'm also seeing how far I can go with the idea of thought balloons, all the unarticulated but essential stuff that passes between people.
